Privacy Policy.
Zero Telemetry. 100% On-Device.
Last Updated: October 6, 2026 · Effective Date: August 26, 2026
Summary of Key Privacy Principles
- Zero Telemetry in the macOS App: Papagal does not collect, transmit, or store any of your files, schemas, queries, or cell values. Everything runs 100% locally on your Mac.
- No Third-Party Analytics or Trackers: The Papagal app contains zero Google Analytics, zero Firebase, zero Mixpanel, and zero advertising SDKs.
- Secure Payment & Licensing: Purchases and licenses are handled entirely by Polar.sh. We never see or store your full credit card numbers.
Information We Do NOT Collect
When you use the Papagal desktop application on macOS, we adhere to a strict zero-knowledge, zero-telemetry architecture:
- Your Files & Datasets: SQLite databases, Parquet tables, Excel spreadsheets, CSV/TSV files, and JSON documents opened in Papagal are read solely into your Mac's local volatile memory and parsed by native Swift/MetalKit code. They are never uploaded to any remote server.
- SQL Queries: Queries executed in the SQL Console are processed on-device by SQLite/MetalKit and never logged to external servers.
- Device Telemetry: We do not log keystrokes, IP addresses, hardware identifiers, or screen sessions.
Information Processed for Licensing
If you purchase a Papagal Pro license ($15 one-time purchase):
- Merchant of Record (Polar.sh): Payment processing, invoicing, and tax compliance are managed securely by Polar Software Inc. (Polar.sh). Polar processes your email address and payment details under their own privacy standards.
- License Key Validation: When you activate or run Papagal Pro, the app makes an encrypted HTTPS request to
https://api.polar.shto verify license status and ensure the 3-device activation limit is respected. The request includes your license key and your Mac's computer name (e.g. “MacBook Pro”) to help you identify active devices in your customer portal. - Local Keychain Storage: Your license key and verification status are saved locally in your encrypted macOS Keychain (
kSecAttrAccessibleAfterFirstUnlockThisDeviceOnly).
Information Collected on our Website (papagal.dev)
When you visit our marketing website:
- Contact Form: If you submit a message through the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message text solely to respond to your inquiry. Messages are processed via Resend and sent to our official support inbox.
- Server Logs: Standard web hosting logs (e.g. Vercel) may temporarily record non-identifying technical metadata (such as browser user-agent and requested URLs) to protect against DDoS attacks and maintain system uptime.
- Zero Ad Trackers / Cookies: We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels.
Apple Privacy Manifest Compliance
Papagal includes an official Apple Privacy Manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) embedded in every application build:
NSPrivacyTracking: Declared false.NSPrivacyCollectedDataTypes: Declared empty (zero collected data).NSPrivacyAccessedAPITypes: Declared strictly for local user preferences (UserDefaults/ reasonCA92.1) and local file inspection (FileTimestamp/ reasonDDA9.1).
Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA & Global Privacy)
Regardless of your location, you retain full rights over your data. Because Papagal stores no files or telemetry on our servers, you do not need to request deletion of your datasets—they never left your machine.
To manage your license, view active devices, or request customer account deletion, you can access your Polar.sh Customer Portal or contact us directly.
